Repub VP Nomination in Dayton

Dayton, Ohio, not to be confused with Daytona
For some reason, McCain has chosen Dayton, OH to announce his VP pick. Having just lived in Dayton for the past half a year, (and on and off before that), I am a bit perplexed. It’s a small city, with a big Air Force Base, that is very Democratic. And he’s making the announcement at the Nutter Center at my old school Wright State, which is an even more liberal haven (many of the professors live in the great little nearby eclectic town of Yellow Springs, hometown of Dave Chappelle (who still lives there), and where I got married). I used to run around and shoot basketball in the Nutter Center just a few months ago, and I’m trying to imagine it filled to the brim with Republicans and Secret Service agents.
Hmmm… now this is all falling into place now. I think I know why McCain is in Dayton.

Not sure I would say the base if filled with liberals, my experience is they are quite conservative and view Yellow Springs as full of weirdo’s and avoid it like the plague lol!
I agree though, interesting choice for an announcement

Sorry – my wording made it seem that the base was democratic – I meant the city. Although I bet that Bush is not the most popular guy on the base.
Almost 30% of the people in Dayton live in poverty. That is astonishing.
Looks like Alaska’s governor is the VP nominee. Maybe she secretly wants to drill in Dayton!
